Runner & Walkers & Families Needed
The 2017 Turkey Trot 5K Run is almost here. If you’ve run in it before, we’d love to have you back. If you haven’t, then now’s the time.
Each year early on Thanksgiving morning (11/23), hundreds of local runners & walkers participate in the Turkey Trot 5K Run. It’s a great way to help those in our community in need while celebrating a holiday of “thanksgiving.” It’s also the perfect way to pre-burn some of those pumpkin pie calories while raising money for a great cause — and it’s a blast!
Lafayette Urban Ministry is a non-profit organization made up of more than 40 churches that serves as an essential social safety net for needy children and families in Greater Lafayette. Since 1972, LUM been working hard to return hope and a sense of self-respect to low-income people, improve their quality of life, and challenge social injustice.
By taking part in the Turkey Trot 5K Run, you’ll be helping to fund everything from our emergency shelter to after school programs for children, Jubilee Christmas, food pantry, and Good Samaritan emergency assistance program. In 2016 LUM provided essential help to almost 5,200 households in Greater Lafayette and Tippecanoe County, and with your support LUM will be able to continue the ministry in the coming year.
So register today. Runners, walkers, families, strollers, costumes & dogs are welcome. Have fun, burn off some Thanksgiving calories and support a great cause.
