Before you get too busy with the start of the new school year — please add these important LUM programs to your calendar.


Hunger Hike (September 16-17)Saturday, September 16 is the 5th Annual HH5K Run. Sunday (September 17) is the 25th annual Hunger Hike 3K Walk. Proceeds benefit LUM Food Programs, Food Finders Food Bank Inc., & St. Thomas Aquinas’ Haiti Ministry. Mark your calendars, get your team together and start raising funds TODAY. Port of Hope (November 9)Port of Hope is a fundraising event for the LUM Immigration Clinic on Thursday, November 9 at Lafayette Brewing Co. from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres & cash bar. Go to www.lumserve.org/port-of-hope.


Community Thanksgiving Celebration (November 23)The LUM Community Thanksgiving Celebration is on Thanksgiving Day from noon to 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church (Lafayette). More than 800 people will be served dinner & dessert. Go to www.lumserve.org/thanksgiving.


Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run (November 23)The Turkey Trot 5K is a fundraising event supporting LUM on Thanksgiving morning at 8 a.m. at McAllister Park, Lafayette. It is open to runners of all ages and abilities and welcomes runners, walkers, dogs, strollers, wagons, turkey hats and more. Go towww.turkeytrot5krun.org.


Jubilee Christmas (December 9)LUM Jubilee Christmas serves over 600 families and 1,800 children. Parents visit one of dozens of churches and shop for their children. In addition to the toys and clothes, each family receives a ham and homemade cookies to make Christmas dinner special. Jubilee Christmas Coordinators Meetings are scheduled for October 5 &November 7. Go to  www.lumserve.org/jubilee.
